PYTK-FSACLS offers a graphical interface for managing ACLs (Access Control Lists).

Installing:

• install RPM
• install tarball and run make install
• ./START for preinstalls

Running:

• acl

Requirements:

For ACLs to be effective,

• the kernel must support ACLs (2.6 kernels) or be recompiled with the ACL patch (bestbits.at)

• the file system must support ACLs (ext3, reiserfs, xfs, ...)
• the file system must be mounted with the proper options (acl option for ext3)
• the getfacl and setfacl utilities must be available

PYTK-FSACLS requires the Tkinter library, which is often dependent on Tix, Tcl, Tk.

The tested distributions are :

• RedHat 9.0 (with ACLS patch)

• Fedora 1.0 and Fedora 2.0
• Mandrake 10.0
